In North Central Texas, the Texas Lakes Trail Region is comprised of 31 counties, and stretches from the Red River to the Heart of Texas.  In 2002, a group of tourism professionals wrote a grant to the THC to activate the Texas Lakes Trail Region.  The group received the grant and hired a regional coordinator in January of 2003.  The Texas Lakes Trail Regional Office is located in downtown Granbury. 

The program has a 15-member board of directors and task forces with over fifty volunteers:
